This campaign is not mine or yours. It is everyone’s. Every single person who donates and posts this message will feel empowered and excited after weeks of feeling scared and helpless. We are taking back some control. We are making a difference. We’re turning the very thing that is killing us into the thing that saves us: our inter-connectivity. Our networks. Our desire to reach out to the ones we love and tell them:
I got you.
UNICEF is on the ground in 190 countries, always on the front lines of any humanitarian emergency. Prior to the World Health Organization declaring the coronavirus a pandemic, UNICEF had already deployed 6 metric tons of medical supplies. Their incredible WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) program was indispensable in the fight against Ebola in 2013 and they are tapping into that same infrastructure now to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Their programs fund everything from critical health supplies like gloves, goggles, masks and ventilators, to disseminating critical life-saving information, and nutrition, education and child protection for the millions of children around the world whose lives have been upended by this crisis. Read more about UNICEF’s emergency response on their website.
Your contribution as part of this movement transforms the ability to purchase 200 pairs of disposable gloves (about a $5 value) into the ability to purchase enough gloves, sanitizer, soap, goggles, surgical masks, thermometers, and other medical supplies to help millions of people globally for many months to come through our $5,000,000 fundraising goal. Of course we’re welcoming people to donate more than $5 if they so choose, but our goal of this project is to receive donations from 1 million people. Connecting 1 million people even when we can't be physically close. Empowering 1 million people. Showing 1 million people the beauty of the human spirit’s desire for connection. Showing 1 million people that even in isolation we stand together united as one.
This movement was the brainchild of a small group of wedding industry professionals including Rebecca Yale, Joy Proctor, Vanessa Kreckel of TPD Design House, Courtney Loeb of Cecile's Paper Co, Devin Wilson and Skylar Stetten of Stetten Wilson, KT Merry, Kim Wiseley, Anna Olson, Rensche Mari, Lara Woolfson of Studio Nouveau and Elaina Graham of Travel Morari, with support from BRIDES Magazine, Flutter Magazine, Samantha Roberts, Christian Noel and countless more including each and every name that appears on the scroll of recent donations on our gofundme. We may have been the spark that lit the match, but we need you to light the fire and spread the message!
This only works with your help! We need each and every one of you to give and share and encourage everyone in your networks to do the same. That's how this takes off and makes magic! We've got a big 2 weeks ahead of us to raise a lot of money and connect a lot of people! Want to help? Have ideas to get this out there? Join us! Email us below! We welcome anyone and everyone to join the movement and help us get connected and raise money for UNICEF's emergency response! #stayinspeakout
